Breaking News: The Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 is here.
Powered by a 4.0 liter Flat-6 that redlines to a whopping 8,000 rpm with 414 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque the new Cayman GT4 is for the "sports car enthusiasts who delight in unadulterated driving pleasure and appreciate a high level of agility". The GT4 goes from 0-62 miles per hour in 4.4 seconds and with a top speed of 188 mph. The best part of it all is that the Cayman GT4 comes with 6-speed manual gearbox as standard.
The front end suspension comes directly from the 991 GT3 model, while the rear end bespoke to GT4. This new track-focussed suspension allows for manual adjustment of camber, toe, ride height, and anti-roll bar stiffness. Combined with major aerodynamic changes, like a large underbody diffuser that makes 50 percent more downforce than the previous generation Cayman GT4 and lightweight 20-inch alloys wrapped by the latest Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, the 718 Cayman GT4 now laps the Nurburgring about 10secs faster that the previous gen Cayman GT4.
If you want a driver's car then this is the one to get. The previous gen Cayman GT4 was like a go-cart and with the advancements in tech, the new 718 Cayman GT4 is bound to bring even bigger smiles. It might be "under powered" by today's standards but this car isn't meant to race with the big boys on a straight line. As Porsche's headline states on the 718 Cayman GT4 presser "Hungry for every curve and optimised for the racetrack"
