Porsche's latest and greatest GT3

The Porsche 991.2 GT3 features a new 4.0 liter flat-six engine producing a lot more power than the 991.1 GT3. And Porsche now gives you an option for a 6 speed manual with no added cost. Yay!

This new breed of GT3’s with its direct fuel injected engine is proof that a naturally aspirated engines are capable of producing power while meeting tougher emission laws. 991.2 GT3 now produces 500HP@ 8,250rpm and theres more room to go up the RPM range because this GT3 redlines at 9,000rpm. A slew German engineering went into creating this new engine, like a two-stage intake fed by two large air intakes on the decklid, a revised oiling system provides better lubrication and is more efficient, and the valvetrain ditches its hydraulic lifters for solid lifters that Porsche promises will never need adjustment.

A Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) 7-speed double-clutch gearbox allows for clean and rapid seamless shifts throughout the gears, but incase you want to feel nostalgic a 6-speed manual transmission is also available. In Sport mode the 991 GT3 with a PDK transmission is capable of shifting from gear to gear in 0.1 second, the same as the Porsche 911 Cup race cars. 0-60mph can be reached in 3.2sec with a PDK and 3.8sec for the manual transmission.

991 GT3 is equipped with rear wheel steering, something a little controversial but in reality it is engineering at its best. At lower speeds the car is more agile, allowing the rear wheels to turn the opposite direction of the front wheels. But higher speeds it turns in the same direction making the car more stable. It feels natural and probably something most owners will never really recognize. Its technology that inspires confidence, giving the driver the sensation of the tires digging into the pavement, helping you through every corner.

Its safe to say that the new 991 GT3 is fantastic, handles amazing, revs for ages, and better to drive than its already epic predecessors, its safe to say that the 991 GT3 sits at the top of GT3 hierarchy.
