Was Mayor Rex Gatchalian right?

So yesterday December 7th, 2020 Valenzuela Mayor Rex Gatchalian suspended the NLEX Corp business permit because of the RFID situation that has caused heavy traffic in his city. He opened up all the toll gate barriers within Valenzuela City proper, allowing motorist to go through with ease and of course without paying.

“We don’t want to cause more anxiety sa ating riding public,” Gatchalian said.

“Ang nilalaman lang no’n. Number one, suspended na ‘yung business permit nila.  Number two, itataas nila ‘yung mga barrier kasi tuloy ‘yung operations nila,”.

Mayor Rex Gatchalian made it a point to clarify that "nothing is shut down...yun operation ng tollway tuloy tuloy yun, hndi lang sila pwede mangolekta, nothing is being shut down"

• Karugatan Harbor Link MacArthur Highway Exit
• Mindanao Avenue Toll Plaza
• Paso de Blas toll Plaza
• Lawang Bato Northbound entry toll booth

I watched everything unfold at the toll gate on Valenzuela City Facebook page and I must say that, I applaud Mayor Gatchalian for what he did.

It'll be interesting to watch and see what the NLEX Corporation does in response to the Mayor's action.

My questions is - Do you agree with Mayor Gatchalian? Do you wish more government officials would follow his lead and hold the tollway operators accountable?
